How we make Float-Rope Baskets

The Baskets are made using age-old, traditional techniques. Similar to those used by current and past Native American basket makers. Common practices along the coast of Maine.

The baskets are rugged as a granite ledge, practically bullet proof, and can be washed simply by putting them in the dishwasher.

Here the bottom of the basket is being woven. The spokes alternate between blue and purple and two weavers of different colors are being used to create an interesting pattern.

The basket has been 'upset' and weaving of the side walls in in progress.

The basket is nearing completion, The spokes have been woven back into the structure of the basket. All that remains is trimming of the spoke-ends and washing.
